Massage: Good for Your Health! PDF Print E-mail

Massage is a healing art that manipulates the soft tissue in the body.  This ancient “hands-on” healing art dates back to 430 B.C. and was used by Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine. Massage was used then and is still used now to offer relief from pain, rejuvenate the muscles, release stress, boost energy and nourish the body, mind and spirit.  In addition, massage has been proven to:

  • Move toxins out of the lymphatic system and strengthen the immune system.
  • Improve circulation.
  • Lower blood pressure.
  • Reduce headaches and defuse stress.
  • Lessen inflammation of the joints that can provide relief from arthritis pain.
  • Nurture the recipient psychologically via caring touch.
  • Increase the release of beta endorphins that create a state of emotional well-being.
  • Induce a deep state of relaxation.
If you have stiffness, pain, rigidity, tension or stress in your body, you can benefit from bodywork and Swedish massage is one of the most popular forms of bodywork. It involves long strokes on superficial layers of muscle combined with light oil.  The touch and pressure applied can be gentle or deep and helps to reduce pain and accumulated stress in the muscles, release tension and induce a deep state of relaxation.

Take time out for TLC self-care with a massage to strengthen your immune system, clear your mind and restore your vitality.
